The purpose of this site is to provide individuals an overview of the State's Friend of the Court system, and further, to provide individuals worldwide, information about divorce, Conciliation Program and links to other useful resources.
Chances are good that there will be a relationship between your family and the Friend of the Court for several years to come. We wish this relationship to be a good one, and we hope that the following information will be helpful.

How We Become Involved
The Friend of the Court is the collection, enforcement and investigative arm of the Circuit Court in the area of domestic relations. The action by the office is dictated by court order. The court issues orders after the Judge has made a determination and the written document is signed, then filed with the county clerk. To obtain a domestic relation order from the Court, the issue has to be brought before the Court through formal legal action. This is accomplished through private attorneys, sometimes the prosecuting attorney or by action of one of the parties. The Friend of the Court does not become involved until action is filed with the court.
You can contact your Enforcement Officer three ways: by phone, walk-ins, or written requests, which can be filed with the front reception desk at the FOC.
- You may call the automated voice response system 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Telephone calls are accepted daily between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Payment information is available only through the voice response system. Remember to have your case number on hand when requesting action or information from the FOC. Case information will only be given to parties involved in a case and the attorneys of record. Do not ask others to request information on your behalf.
- Legal advice is not available from the staff; if an inquiry requires legal advice, a private attorney must be consulted.
Financial Services Access Desk
The Allegan Friend of the Court created a "Financial Services Access Desk". Parties to a case now have a "no" appointment-required access in which their financial concerns are addressed. The financial concerns include, but are not limited to allocation and distribution, tax offset, providing pay history accounting and completing audits.
