Citizen Crime Self-Reporting 

NOTE:

These submissions will be monitored and reviewed Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, as time allows. For all emergencies, please call 911.

If you want to see an Officer, call Central Dispatch at 269.673.3899. If not, you may use this Citizen Self-Reporting system.

 

Instructions


Who:  Any person at least 18 years of age or business entity who wants to report an incident online that occurred in Allegan County.
What: Self-reporting of non-emergency minor incidents or crimes where there is no known suspect, no evidence to be collected, any damage and/or loss does not exceed $1,000, and does not involve a traffic crash.
How: Click the link below to “File ONLINE Report” and follow the prompts to complete the necessary information.  The data will then be transmitted to the Sheriff’s Office, where it will be reviewed during the hours of Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, then forwarded to the appropriate law enforcement agency for the location where the incident occurred.  If any further information is needed, an Officer will contact you via e-mail or phone, as time allows.  Once the report is reviewed and all information is complete, it will then be incorporated into the official reporting system.  A copy of the police report will then be available to the reporting person or business via e-mail.
   
NOTICE: FILING A FALSE POLICE REPORT IS A CRIME. MCL 750.411a
Items marked with an * are mandatory for Uniform Crime Reporting.  If any * marked items are not completed, or if we are unable to contact you via e-mail or phone, your report will not be accepted.
 
EXAMPLES OF INCIDENTS THAT MAY BE REPORTED ONLINE: 
 
  • Lost property – except firearms, prescription medications or license plates
  • Larceny or Theft – except firearms, prescription medications or license plates--value of property must be less than $1,000.
  • Damage to Property
  • Vehicle Crash on Private Property – no injuries involved
  • Drive Offs – fail to pay for gasoline
 
EXAMPLES OF INCIDENTS THAT MAY NOT BE REPORTED ONLINE: 
  Any type of violent crime, any type of sex crime, or any crime where a person was threatened or is in danger
