Complaints involving non-domestic animals are the responsibility of the State of Michigan-Department of Natural Resources (D.N.R.). Locally, you may contact their Plainwell Operations Service Center, 621 N. 10th St., Plainwell, Michigan at 269.685.6851.
Animal Control handles all domestic animals; from hamsters to horses. We also take reports of all domestic animal bites, placing the animal under quarantine for ten days to assure the animal is not positive for rabies. In 2006, the shelter accepted 832 dogs and 1,115 cats and handled 1,959 domestic animal complaints.
The shelter works with many rescue organizations throughout the state so that animals can be adopted to good, loving homes. If you have lost an animal or would like to adopt an animal from the shelter, you may either call or visit the shelter in person between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m., or you may check the PetFinder website at www.petfinder.com
