• What is Specialized Services?
  It is a transportation grant to help provide additional services. There is a limited amount of grant funding available for this service.
• Does it help pay for my trip?
  Yes, It is a grant that reimburses ACT at a rate of $1.20 per mile.
• Why Specialized Service and not Regular Service?
  If your trip does not fit on any of our regular routes, regular times or is out of our service area then your trip could be considered a Specialized Service trip.
• Who is eligible for this service?
  Only Seniors or Persons with a Disability.
• What kind of trips will be eligible for this service?
  Medical, Shopping, and Recreational
• Where can I go?
  In County and Out of County (only approved counties)
• How much will it cost me?
  Any cost not covered by the specialized services grant at $1.20 per mile.  You will most likely receive an invoice for short trips, there is a minimum charge of $5.00.

Fees

All customer charges are calculated at the $45.00 hourly rate starting from the bus garage until the bus returns to the bus garage.  We then subtract the grant mileage of $1.20 per mile, the $5.00 fee and invoice the balance. 

If you would like an estimate in advance of your trip, you may call and have us calculate an estimated charge.  Any time the bus is not moving this does add to the cost.  We always try to schedule your trip on regular service first.

EXAMPLES:

Trip request 1 - Client needs transportation from Highpoint Apartments in Allegan to a 30 min Kalamazoo medical appointment.

Time 2.5 hours @ $45 per hr = $112.50 cost
Grant Miles - 90 miles @ $1.20 = $108.00 grant pays
Client pays $112.50 - $108.00 = $5.00 minimum charge

Trip request 2 - Client needs transportation from Highpoint Apartments in Allegan to a 30 min appointment at Allegan General Hospital.

Time 1 hour @ $45 per hr = $45.00 cost
Grant Miles - 15 miles @ $1.20 = $18.00 grant pays
Client pays $45.00 - $18.00 = $27.00
