Located within the Allegan State Game Area, Ely Lake Campground offers a quality camping experience that is located close to town but has a definite backcountry feel. Ely Lake contains 73 primitive campsites (16 of which are open to equestrian camping), vault toilets, and a swimming beach on Ely Lake. You will also find DNR Public Access sites to both Ely and Little Tom Lakes. (Ely has a “no motor” rule, so bring your canoe or row boat!) Ely is open year round, so come out and enjoy some fabulous fall or winter camping! Ely also has several trails for hiking and cross-country skiing. See Park and Campground Amenities for additional information about shelters, electricity and hours of operation.
Equestrian Camping/Day Riding
With the completion of the Allegan County Equestrian Trail System, Ely Lake will now play host to equestrian camping and day riding. Beginning in 2010 there will be 16 campsites at Ely Lake Campground that will be open to equestrian camping. Ely Lake will also offer a staging area for those equestrians that simply wish to come out and ride the trails for the day.
