What to do when sirens sound
- Take cover.
- Tune in to local media or NOAA weather radio for further information.
- Do not call 911 unless you have an emergency requiring immediate attention.
The Siren System
The Allegan County siren system is set up in a way that allows officials to set off each quadrant of the county (Northeast, Northwest, Southeast and Southwest). Even though the hazard might not be affecting your area, when the siren sounds. “Get inside then get information.”
Siren Testing
Allegan County Sirens are tested on the first Friday of the month at 11:00am unless there are adverse weather conditions.

Outdoor Warning Sirens are not “tornado sirens.” Sirens may be used for all types of hazards where emergency officials want people in a defined area to “get inside then get information.”
