The Legal Assistance Center (LAC) provides support for individuals involved in a wide range of civil legal matters, including:
- Divorce
- Child support
- Parenting time
- Custody
- Paternity
- Personal protection orders (PPOs)
- Guardianship
- Landlord-tenant disputes
- Small claims
- Court-fee waivers
- Judgment collection
Our assistance includes offering tools, legal information, and court-approved forms to help individuals move forward with their civil cases.
Please note: We are only able to assist individuals who are representing themselves in court—commonly referred to as Pro Per, short for in propria persona, a Latin phrase meaning “for oneself.” If you are currently represented by an attorney, you do not qualify for services from the Legal Assistance Center.

Public Entrance
Access the Courthouse via the entrance off Hubbard Street, between Walnut and Chestnut Streets.
Parking
Public parking is available in several nearby lots, along with on-street parking. Refer to the Downtown Allegan Map for locations.
