Who We Are

The Allegan County Legal Assistance Center (ACLAC) is a grant and donation funded initiative dedicated to helping Allegan County residents who need assistance navigating the legal system but cannot afford an attorney. The Center’s primary goal is to reduce barriers to justice.

By offering legal guidance to self-represented litigants, ACLAC helps ensure meaningful access to the court system for individuals and families. The Center supports civil legal matters including divorce, child custody, parenting time, personal protection orders, landlord-tenant disputes, guardianships, and other non-criminal issues. ACLAC has been serving the community since July 30, 2012.

Volunteers

Under the direction of the Allegan County Legal Assistance Center’s Operations Director, volunteers are responsible for providing legal information to citizens of Allegan County who are representing themselves in a civil action. The Center does not provide assistance with criminal matters and the volunteers will not give legal advice to anyone. To volunteer with ACLAC, please consult the County's Volunteer Opportunities page.
