2025 Allegan County National Community Survey Information

Allegan County and several partner agencies have secured Polco's services to gauge residents’ views on the current state of Allegan County and public services. The County released surveys in 2019 and 2022 to gather input from residents throughout the county in an effort to make better-informed decisions on services. The County, along with many of its local units of government, has utilized your input in a number of planning decisions. To learn more about Polco, please visit their website.

The Partner agencies are, Allegan Area Educational Service Agency, Community Action of Allegan County, OnPoint (formerly Community Mental Health), Allegan County United Way, and the Allegan County Community Foundation.

Based on the success of past surveys, Allegan County is issuing a new survey.  The mailed survey began on January 29, 2025. The information gathered will be used for future planning. The survey is distributed to two groups:

  1. Representative Sample - The first group will receive the survey in the mail beginning January 29, 2025. This mailed survey is sent to a randomly selected group of households (representative sample) over 30 days, distributed equally throughout the county. 
  2. Open Sample - The second group will have access to the survey after the first group. February 24, 2025, through March 16, 2025. The survey is closed. 

Polco compared our results on the common core questions to those of other communities with similar characteristics, which are the benchmarked results. The Polco report on the results and the presentation to the Board of Commissioners in April 2025 are provided above.
