Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) program

The STI program focuses on diseases transmitted through sexual contact, primarily HIV, syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia. Program activities include surveillance screening, clinical exams, testing, education, referral, follow-up, sexual partner notification, and treatment of at-risk individuals. All patients 13 and up can be tested. All tests are confidential and will remain between the provider and patient.  

HIV/AIDS Program

The HIV/AIDS Program focuses on HIV/AIDS disease prevention. The Primary Service Elements are HIV counseling and testing, education, and condom distribution. Education regarding support and referral of affected/infected individuals is provided, as well as surveillance and partner notification. 

Who Should Get Tested?

  • Sexually active men who are gay or bisexual should be tested for: 
    • Syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhea at least once a year. Those with multiple or anonymous partners should be tested more frequently (e.g., every 3 to 6 months). 
    • HIV at least once a year. 
    • Hepatitis C, at least once a year if living with HIV. 
  • Anyone who shares injection drug equipment should get tested for HIV at least once a year. 
  • People who have had oral or anal sex should talk with their healthcare provider about throat and rectal testing options. 
  • All sexually active people ages 13 to 64 should be tested at least once for HIV. 
  • All sexually active women younger than 25 years should be tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia every year. 
  • Women 25 years and older with risk factors should be tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia every year. Risk factors include having new partners, multiple partners, or a partner with an STI.

Wear One campaign 

The Wear One campaign was created to increase free condom availability, create awareness, and promote acceptance of condom use in individuals 18 - 24 years of age.
